The approach is everything. Chap 4 (1/2)

Andrew Wake Newsletter, Parenting

Hi to all

(Whoops…try again with a heading!)

What it helps to know about good enough parenting is found in chapters 1-3 and the corresponding videos you have already seen.  From here we are looking at what a good enough parent provides and the practical strategies that can be tried to create change.

But before this, chapter 4 is a reminder that it is how we implement those strategies that determines whether they will help to create change in our child’s attachment patterns, ability to tolerate missing out, and whether they can increasingly manage their reptile brain repossess.

As an extreme example, if your child is having trouble hitting, a very effective strategy is to put them in handcuffs.  It will work really well to deal with the problem of hitting, but not so helpful in helping the child to learn self-control.
